hey, i’m john. and i wasn’t supposed to make it this far.
I was a single parent with a two-year-old and a six-year-old, working restaurant shifts and cleaning my church twice a week just to make extra money.
I had a product idea, but no clue what to do next, because the world moved on and I haven’t — new tech, new software, new tools, all of it happening without me.
But I remembered something my dad said a long time ago.
“College helps teach you how to think.”
I went back and finished my AA. Earned a Bachelor’s in business.
Became a full-time student, a full-time single parent, and a full-time business owner all at the same time, trying to figure things out as I went.
My entire first year of sales totaled $343.
I put the numbers into a spreadsheet using what I learned in Finance class and realized something I couldn’t ignore.
I wasn’t making money.
I was paying customers to buy my product.
But then I met Ralph, an experienced online seller, in one of my classes.
He told me, “You have to create a product customers want — not what you want.”
And he showed me how online sales and marketing actually work.
A year later, I was earning a high five figures and thought I was doing great.
But then another mentor looked at my numbers and asked a simple question.
“Why isn’t it seven figures?”
That question changed everything.
from good to great
For the first time, I had answers for why I felt stuck.
I became obsessed with data analytics, time management, and making the most of the resources I had while juggling college, parenthood, and business.
It wasn’t easy at first.
Working on the business instead of in it felt uncomfortable and unnatural.
Cutting out the busy work felt wrong, like I was cheating or being lazy.
But it worked.
Between 2013 and 2025, I started, scaled, and eventually exited a children’s product company.
Along the way, I won two national business pitch competitions and earned both a Bachelor’s degree and an MBA.
All while running the business full-time and raising two small kids who somehow turned into amazing teenagers.
The smile kept getting bigger.
And the question changed.
What was I going to do next?
I already knew the answer.
I wanted to see other business owners succeed, too.
From creator to coach
In November of 2025, I created the FACARDS™ Framework, a simple business strategy built around the only seven parts of a company that actually matter.
Then, I created ScaleGrow. My coaching and consulting service for business owners.
It came with a commitment.
To support business owners who refuse to quit.
Not just to help them scale or make more money,
But to help them save time, their energy, and get back their freedom.
I wasn’t supposed to make it this far.
For a long time, I stayed quiet and kept what I knew to myself.
But there are millions of capable business owners who don’t need motivation… they need the right person, the right guidance, and the right strategy to move forward.
That’s why I do this.
And when you’re ready to take control of your business and your life,
I’m here to help you do it.
